Ligia & Ben

Friday 18th October 2019

Ligia and Ben have been long-time Rogue lovers (our sister-venue!) for as long as we could remember, so when they were keen to get hitched with us at The Refinery we couldn’t have been more excited. It just made the day that little bit more special! And what a magical day it was. Read on to see our quick Q&A with Ligia and find their dream team of vendors at very bottom.

How did you find the 'first look' experience? Was this something you've always thought about doing?

“This moment felt real, with pure emotions, and uninterrupted - it was our moment to share. The idea of a first look made me extremely nervous as traditionally you would wait until the ceremony but I wasn't prepared to share that moment with everyone. We also took this opportunity to capture the two of us in our loved up state. It also meant that after the ceremony we weren't trying to find time to leave the event but instead enjoyed the big day and celebrated with our closest friends and family.”

What was your most memorable moment from the big day?

“The moment before the curtains got pulled to walk down the aisle, it felt like time had stopped but in a good sense. Arm in arm with my father, tears beginning to overcome my father's eyes and for someone who has shown so much strength throughout my upbringing, it just made me want to cry too. In those few seconds, my heart felt full. It was my father's way of expressing how proud he was of me, being able to partake in a major event of my life, to see me start my own life with the man that is now my husband. Then the curtains were pulled and in the distance was Ben. That memory will be one I will never forget.”

What was your favourite thing about having your wedding at The Refinery?

“One location. The build and the fit-out has been thoroughly planned and executed. It's a location that allows the event to flow continuously and I would speculate there are also fairies that make up the team behind The Refinery. You don't see things being put into place, they just appear but for a good reason. When you thought it couldn't get any better, there was the Bridal Suite. Trust me there will be a time where you will want to time out... It's the perfect space to freshen up, re-adjust yourself, throw down a few crackers and cheese, down a champagne all with zero judgement. Can't go wrong!”

What's one piece of advice you'd give to future brides?

“Find an Events Manager and team who are willing to support your ideas and coordinate with your respective chosen vendors. It will make that planning phase feel controlled and will ease your mind about the day itself too. This way, your day will run smoothly allowing you to embrace and be a part of the day.”
